Payal Rohatgi was born in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, India on 9 November 1984 Hyderabad. She is the daughter of Veena Rohatgi and Shashank Rohatgi. She has a brother named Gaurav Rohatgi. She was brought up in a middle-class family and grew up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She completed her schooling from Udgam School and did her engineering from L.D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad. She is a Computer Engineer by education.[3] Her father is a Chemical Engineer and mother was working as a Teacher for last 30 years in a school in Ahmedabad. Her brother is a Electronics Engineer. Coming from a highly educated family it was a surprise even to her family when Rohatgi wanted to be a part of the Film Industry. But nevertheless they always supported her decision. They always backed their daughter's determination and ability to experiment in her life.
